Belladonna (Adoption Pending) is a 5-6 month old black female very high Lab. She spent quite a bit of short life at the shelter so she is shy at first but warms up .Bella loves to play with her toys, especially her Kong filled with peanut butter! She will fetch, too.Bell is a real sweetheart and is a wonderful girl.Bella has great manners and energy for a young Lab.She is approved to go any type of home.Bella has met lots of other dogs and is friendly to every one of them. She is currently living with her Lab foster brother Harvey.
Bella is at the perfect age for training and recognized her new name in only a few short days. She is currently learning commands, like sit and stay, as well as how to walk nicely on a leash. She loves being outside and playing in the yard. Like most Labs, Bella likes to chew, but keeping plenty of toys around seems to help keep her busy. Bella is still growing but we don't think she will be a very large Lab, probably 50-55 lbs at most.Bella is crate trained and house broken. She is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and current on flea, tick and heartworm preventative.Bella is also micro chipped. If you would love to make this special and loving girl a part of your family, please complete our online adoption application and request her in the notes section.
Meet our Newbies…Skeeter (Adoptiong Pending), Shelbi, Shea, Simone and their lone brother, Sid (not pictured). These pups are extremely gorgeous and very sweet puppies. They are all about 4 months old and very well tempered pups.We believe these pups are Labs mixed with either Border Collie or maybe a bit of Blue Heeler. These are best guesses based on their looks, personality and temperaments. How these precious babies were in a high kill facility we will never understand? All puppies are very well socialized with humans and canines. They crave human attention and absolutely melt when they get good boy and girl pats on the head and belly rubs.
Skeeter is the most high energy pups and boy can she jump. She already has the making of a great disk or agility dog.She looks the most different of her brother and sisters and she is the one we believe may have a bit of heeler or aussie mixed in as well.Shelbi and Shea are outgoing and very curious pups. They like to be in the action with their sister Skeeter.Simone and her brother Sid like to sit back and take it all in.They are a bit mellower than their siblings. All the pups but Skeeter have the floppy, Lab ears and looks.Their pictures do really reflect that because they weren’t in the mood that day for picture taking. These pups are approved to go into any type of home.
All the pups possess typical puppy energy and we expect that they will be about 55-65 lbs when fully grown. They enjoy playing with their new toys, which consist of squeaky things, knotted rope toy, Nylabones and of course, the tennis balls (after all they are happy labs in training). They are very playful pups with. All of these beautiful puppies are very smart and will score an A+ in obedience training. With loving patience, guidance and basic obedience training these babies will make terrific family members and will surely steal the hearts of all your neighbors with their good looks and sweet personalities. All puppies are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations and are heartworm negative. They are also micro chipped and current on heartworm, flea and tick preventative. If you are interested in one of these great puppies, please fill out an online application and request them in the notes section.
Fozzie Bear (Adoptiong Pending) is a very cute 5-month-old Lab mix pup. He has the most adorable eyes that will melt the heart of any man, women, or child. He is such a sweet looking and acting boy. His foster mom just can not resist giving this boy pats on the head and yummy treats just for looking at her with those precious puppy dog eyes (and trust me, he will use them so beware). Fozzie is an average size Lab boy for his age weighing about 30 lbs. We think he will grow to be about 60-65 lbs. He likes to play with Kong balls, rope toys and loves to chew on a good rawhide bone. He is crate trained, working on house manners and gets along with other canine buddies. Fozzie can be a bit shy but warms up to anyone willing to give his a hug or yummy liver treats. Fozzie is approved to go to a home with children or would make a great playmate for another canine.
Fozzie has been socialized with women, older children, men and other dogs. He would do fine in a home with cats.Fozzie is neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on all of his vaccinations and is currently on heartworm and flea preventive. He is also microchipped. If you are interested in making this big fuzzy puppy a part of your family, please fill out an online application and request him in the notes section.
Trace (ADOPTED), Atkins (ADOPTED)and Garth Brooks (ADOPTED) are 3 little country music stars who are just trying to bark their way through to a better life. These little stars found themselves under a good Samaritans porch (with their momma) in the frigid cold temperatures.Their momma is a purebred black Lab who has done a great job in taking care of these little music makers and found them shelter from the freezing weather underneath a porch where the wind was not so brutal. The good Samaritan heard the music of little whining, barking pups and look under the porch to find such a sight. The Animal Control was contacted, which contacted Lucky Lab Rescue. At the time, these pups were only 3 weeks old and we knew they would not survive in the bitter cold, so we made arrangements to get them to safety immediately. Now, they are warm and cozy with plenty to eat, drink, and toys to keep active. They are weaned from their mother and are ready for a new home to care for their needs.Their momma, Ella, will be ready for adoption soon, but needs to recover from the birth of these babies so she will be ready for her spay. She will never have to worry about having and caring for babies again.
These little country stars are will be 10 weeks old and ready for their new home on February 13th. All three are very friendly and outgoing and would make great pups for any family. They will have had 2 puppy vaccinations and a bordetella vaccination. If you are interested in putting a little twang in your life, please fill out an online application and request one of these country stars in the notes section.
Yes, another wonderful yellow boy.His name is Harrison. He ended up at a local animal control when owner was sent to jail and no one was taking care of poor Harrison. He also had a choke chain growing into his neck when he was found.Hi neck has healed nicelyHarrison is 3-4 years old, appears to be a purebred and is on the bigger side.He is a perfect size Lab weighing in around 85 lbs-he is not too skinny or heavy, he is just right.
Harrison is medium energy with a sweet Lab personality. He loves attention and wants to in the center of all activities. His favorite thing is to be stroked on his head or under his chin.He would be great for any type of active home as he gets along well with everyone including other canines. He would do great in home with older children who like to play and run with him.He can be go to a home when cats. When is met the resident kitty he wasn’t even interested, actually he was a bit of a scarredy cat himself.Harrison rides great in the car, is crate trained and is housebroken. He takes treats very nicely and is just a very sweet and loving Lab boy.He loves going for walks playing and just relaxing with his foster mom.He again, needs some work on his obedience training (jumping when excited) and leash walking. He is a strong boy and would do best with a prong collar or gentle leader. He has a very friendly and outgoing personality and doesn’t seem at all shy.He will be neutered, heartworm tested and micro chipped before going to his new home.He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and will be started on heartworm and flea preventative.Harrison did come from a home so he is used to living in the house…not a good home but he did belong to someone at one time.
If you are looking for a wonderful Lab with all the great Lab traits, Harrison is your man. Please complete our online adoption application and request him in the notes section.
Meet our gorgeous chocolate boyMyles.Myles is around 6 years old and looks to be a purebred Lab.Myles is a nice sized boy weighing in around 70 lbs and once his burnt orange coat has fallen out he will be a deep dark chocolate brown. He is smart, outgoing and loves to smell everything. He walks okay on a leash but with a gentle leader or prong collar he would walk like a perfect gentleman.Myles has been well socialized with men, women and older children.Myles is considered medium energy and is such a great dog when it come to his humans. He is sweet, loving, gentle and such a nice boy. He just craves attentions, and head pats. If he was as perfect with other dogs as he is with people he would already be adopted. Myles's only issue is that he does not get along with ALL dogs just some and he needs to be in a home as the only dog.
Myles is a typical Lab in that he loves to play fetch and bring it back.He could play for hours on end….well with a few breaks in between. He would also love to go swimming and take walks in the woods.Myles is mild-manner and does not jump but would do well with a refresher course is basic obedience.
He is crate trained, neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. He will need a refresher course on housetraining but he is learning quickly. If you can give Myles a wonderful life, please complete our online adoption and request Myles in the notes section.
HEY, HEY, HEY IT'S FAT ABBY!Yeah, Abby needs to lose a few pounds, but that has nothing to do with her extremely good looks and wonderful personality.Abby was found in a very high kill shelter. We rescued her on a Saturday, as she was scheduled to be put down on Monday. Some shelters are very rescue friendly and some, well, really do not care. That is the type of shelter Abby came from, her and a few others who were to die only days later. Thanks goodness for Abby she had a few “guardian angels” aka dedicated volunteers from the shelter looking out for her and all the others. Why are so many great dogs being euthanized? Unbelievable!Abby is about 5-6 years old and weighs about 75 lbs.She needs to lose at least 10 lbs to be a normal healthy weight. We believe that Abby is a Lab/Golden Retriever mix and has a very gentle and nice personality. She appears to be housetrained, crate trained and walks well on the lead.We think Abby belonged to someone who took good care of her, but have no idea how she ended up in such a dreadful situation.
Abby, being an older girl, is lower-to-medium energy, gets along with other dogs, is okay cat approved and will make a terrific family pet or a wonderful pet for a single person or older couple. All Abby is looking for is a loving, safe home who will take her on walks and give her good girl pats and low-calorie treats. She is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and currently on preventive for heartworm, flea, and tick.Abby has also been micro chipped. If you are interested in giving this fantastic girl a forever home, please fill out an application and request her in the notes section.
GENTLE GIANT ALERT!Skyler(ADOPTED) is every bit a gentle giant. He is a big boy, weighing about 80 lbs.Skyler is a black Lab/Shepard mix and is approximately 2-3 years old.He is such a great boy and very friendly. He rides well in the car, likes to give his humans kisses, he does not jump and knows a few commands (i.e., sit).He takes treats nicely and is good with other dogs.He can go in a home with cats and will make a good family member in a home with older children, men, women and other dogs.Though he is gentle, he has been caught playing with a few of his foster siblings (both canine and human) and will be a good dog for an active family as well. This boy is a great find and will be treasured by a deserving family to have such a wonderful boy to call their own.
Skyler loves to chew on rawhide bones, walks well on leash and would benefit from some additional obedience training. He is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He is currently on heartworm, flea and tick preventive and is also micro chipped. If you would like to adorn your home with a gentle giant, Skyler is your man. Please indicate on the notes section of your application that you would like to adopt him.
Handsome Willy.Willy is a one-year-old black Lab mix.He is a handsome, small boy weighing about 45 lbs.He loves to get his human attention and of course those yummy treats his foster mommy gives him.Willy is working on house manners and is crate trained. He is a very smart boy and will learn quickly. He will need a family who will make sure he gets the proper obedience training and socialization.Willy will be good in a family with older children or a single person for companionship.Once Willy gets to know his humans, he is putty in your hand.He can be a bit shy and nervous around new people, but with proper introductions and care, he warms up nicely and can be quite the submissive dog with humans. With other dogs, he can be bossy, but once he finds his way in a group and they all work out their initial grumblings, he is a good playmate. He loves to play with the Kong ball, chew on a rawhide bone, and hang with his peeps.
Willy is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He is also micro-chipped and currently on preventive for heartworm, fleas and ticks. If you are interested in making handsome Willy a part of your pack, please fill out an online application and request him on the notes section.
This good looking black Lab is

Reggie is around 9 months old and appears to be a purebred. He is an average size Lab weighing in around 50 lbs. Reggie has been well socialized with men, woman, and older children. He gets along with everyone. We would consider Reggie a high- to medium-energy dog who with proper exercise will make anyone a great Lab.He would be a great candidate for obedience training as his previous family spent little time with him on training. He has been raised around children so he is approved for many family situations.Reggie would make a great hiking companion, would enjoy outings to the local bark park and would like to have big yard to run around in with his canine or human siblings.

Sasha (Adoption Pending). is 12 years old and is looking for her retirement forever home.CAN YOU IMAGINE? She lived in a home with a family and another dog (a Corgi, who was rescued by a corgi rescue) for 12 years, then one day her world was turned upside down.IN A SHELTER, WHAT?We cannot imagine ANY reason to dump a 12-year-old family member in a place where death is almost certain.A lot of shelters would just euthanize a precious 12-year-old owner surrender dog deeming no chance of a new home. How could someone put their dog at such risk? That is a question that will never be answered for us, but we are so happy that we were contacted about this fabulous girl.Sasha is so sweet, gorgeous, house trained, loves people, gets along with other dogs, okay with cats, lovable, walks okay on leash, takes treats nicely, no aggression to be seen, and basically, PERFECT.She really deserves to live in a home with her very own new family that will make sure to never put her precious life at risk again.
Sasha is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She is currently on heartworm, flea and tick prevention, as well as, micro-chipped.If you are interested in placing this senior girl in your home, please fill out our online application and request her in the notes section.

He loves the water, he gives big slobbery kisses, he loves his people.Hancock he gets along well with other dogs, and he is happy all the time, Oh, and he loooooves the treats. Hancock received very little exercise in his previous home and NO training. He is a bit pushy and is all over the place when it comes to walking on a leash and calming down.We also think they did not pay much attention to him but you would never know though as he loves to be loved and given that positive praise and kisses on the head. He is a very good boy who needs a firm handler and someone who is dedicated to getting him the obedience training he needs. With a little work and patience, Hancock is going to be an awesome Lab and a great companion, not to mention a head turner with his handsome dark looks. We consider Hancock a high-energy dog.

Bella (ADOPTED).Can we say beautiful?Take everything we just said about Lexi and apply to Bella. She is another sweet and wonderful black Lab female. She is very pretty and on the small side weighing about 45 lbs.She is also about 1-1.5 years old and appears to be a purebred. She is a medium energy girl and gets along good with other dogs. She will do well in a family with older children, other dogs and can be cat tested if needed. We love our black dogs and are so happy that we can rescue them.As most of you know or have read on our website, black labs are usually the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized by some shelters. We do not know why and the thought of this girl (or any other of our Lucky Labs) not being rescued is just unbearable. She is such a great girl.Bella will be a great student in obedience and really loves to please her humans (and of course, get the good girl treats). She is also working on basic skills, house manners, crate training.Bella is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She is micro chipped and currently on heartworm, flea and tick preventive. If you would like to adopt Bella, please fill out an online application and request her on the notes section.
Donatello (ADOPTED)is a beautiful black high Lab mix boy.He is about 7 months old and on the small side weighing about 40 lbs.Of course, he still has a bit more growing to do.This boy, for his age, has the best house manners his foster mom has ever seen.He gets along great with all his foster brothers and sisters and loves to romp and play in the yard. His favorite game is ‘catch me if you can’ and ‘who can get the ball first’.When he comes in the house, he is the perfect gentleman. No rough housing or tearing through the house like most guys his age.He likes to roll around on one of the dog beds with his foster sister Mindy and exchange chew bones and then just settles in for a nap.He still has plenty of puppy energy though. The foster kitties don’t even phase him.He is a real love bug and enjoys all the praise and attention he can get. What more could you ask for.
Donatello would be great in any family situation and he is approved for a home with young children. He is crate trained, house trained and working on basic obedience. This guy would excel in obedience classes, as he is very smart and eager to learn.Donatello is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations, including rabies. If you would be interested in making Donatello a part of your family, please indicate him in the notes section of the online adoption application.
Keiffer (ADOPTED)is just one of those sweet girls who deserves the good life.Keiffer had found herself back in a high kill shelter for the second time.1st time was as a young puppy. She was adopted as a puppy and spent 6 years with her family, giving them all the love and devotion this sweet girl could give. When she developed skin problems and leg problems, off to the shelter they carted her to face a very uncertain and bleak future. The volunteers at the shelter became so attached to Keiffer that they did everything they could to get her into a rescue. When Lucky Lab took one look at that sweet face, we couldn’t resist. The skin condition was flea allergies and after being treated with flea preventative the condition disappeared. Her black coat has become nice and shiny and soft now and the bare spots are disappearing. As for her leg problems, well she is a bit bow-legged and has a few extra pounds on her. She currently weighs about 50 lbs but would be ok losing a few of them. When she gets excited and hurries across the vinyl flooring her legs do slip out from under her occasionally.
Keiffer is about 6 + years old and is just a little black dog.Not sure if there is much Lab to her, but she sure likes hanging out with the labs. She gets along great with everyone, even the family cats. She has a laid back quiet personality and would make a great companion for an older person or couple who is looking for a sweet quiet companion.Keiffer likes to go for walks and just laying at her foster mom’s feet in the evening.
Keiffer is spayed, heartworm tested and up-to-date on her vaccinations including rabies and she is crate trained. If you would be interested in learning more about her, please indicate Keiffer in the notes section of the online adoption application.
This is Jasper. He is a terrific black Lab mix boy who is looking for an awesome forever home.He is 1.5-2 years old and weighs about 50 lbs.He gets along well with other canines but can sometimes try to be alpha.Jasper likes to spend his days playing with his Kong ball, his foster canine brother and sisters and then relaxing after a long day.Jasper takes treats nicely and walks ok on lead but could use additional training.Jasper is a very nice boy with a wonderful personality. He would enjoy a family that is active and wants a family companion. He would also do well with a couple or a single person who enjoys walking, running or just playing in the yard.
Jasper is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, micro chipped and crate trained. He also appears to be housetrained as he has never had an accident in his crate.
Bo (ADOPTED)
is a gorgeous chocolate Lab mix boy who is around 1-year-old.He is on the smaller side for a labby boy and weighs about 55 lbs.He has a very bright demeanor and loves to play.He loves his Kong ball and has that true retriever mentality in bringing it back for another go.Bo came from a loving home who were no longer able to care for him.He is housetrained, crate trained, knows sit and does ok on lead.He likes to be a little bossy with the other doggies, but he is all about a good time with running, tug-o-war and wrestling with a few of his foster siblings. He has been socialized with men, women, older children and would do best in a home with a more submissive (less bossy) dog.Bo would benefit from obedience classes that will help him to use hid doggy skills and become a good obedient bot.He is very smart and learns quickly.
Bo also likes his human attention and loves to be the center of it.He is a comedian by nature and really knows how to make his foster parents smile (and give him good boy treats). This boy knows all the tricks and will use them to no avail to win the hearts of his people.Bo is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, up-to-date on his vaccinations and is currently on heartworm and flea preventative. If you would love to adopt this wonderful boy, please complete our online adoption application and request him in the notes section.
Find out why Twinkie and Shadow are in needs of new homes. We hear all kinds of reasons or excuses as to why wonderful, fully vetted, healthy dogs are surrendered to local shelters but this one is one of the best. These two great dogs found themselves in the shelter because one had escaped twice from the owners’ backyard and she has to pay the fines. However, come to find out the lock on the gate was broken so instead of fixing the gate and making provisions for these two Labs, the owners found it easier to simply pay a surrender fee to the local shelter instead of fixing the gate.We still do not understand this logic. But the best part is, these dogs were going to be euthanized because of lack of space at the shelter.Owner surrenders are usually the first to be put to sleep because the shelter knows no one wants them back.Luckily for Twinkie and Shadow the nice lady at the shelter pleaded for them to be held over for an extra week to see if we would be able to save them. And as luck would have it, we were able to get them the day before their next date of execution.Sadly, this type of situation occurs all the time and unfortunately we are not able to save them all, but these two now have a chance at a better life.
Twinkie (ADOPTED) is a beautiful and healthy, a 4-year-old purebred, black female Lab. She is housebroken but we not sure about crate trained. She gets along great with others dogs and she was interested in sniffing the cat but nothing else, just kind of sniffed and looked and then walked away. Twinkie is what we would consider the English Lab. She has a short, stocky body and bigger, block head. She is about 10-12 lbs overweight but that is easily rectified with a low cal food and more exercise than she was getting at the shelter. She is a very nice girl and walks ok on the leash but does pull, so a little work is needed. She does know sit and seems very smart. She has a typical nice Lab temperament and great personality.Because she is bit heavy right now we would consider her to be low-to-medium energy but she did really enjoy her walk and visit to the creek. She is also well behaved.Twinkie is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative and is microchipped.Twinkie and Shadow would love to be adopted together but is not a requirement.
Shadow is a 7-year-old Lab who we think is mixed with a Shepherd. He is a very, very nice and mild-mannered boy.He walks well on lead and knows sits.He CANNOT be placed in a home with cats but does great with other dogs.Shadow is in good health and has a very good disposition and is well behaved.Shadow enjoys longs walks and gets along great with all his canine friends. He is housebroken, neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and is heartworm negative and on preventative.
Both Twinkie and Shadow can go into any type of home as they seem very comfortable and gentle with all people. Both have been very well socialized with men, women and older children. If you can give one or both of these deserving Labs a new forever home, please complete our online adoption application and request them in the notes section
Meet our wonderful non-Lab boy, Clayton. He is a sophisticated, but oh so goofy boy. Clayton is such a love bug to the humans, playful and endearing, tidy and neat. He is a 2-3 year old Pitbull mix and very bonded to his human foster parents. Clayton gets along with cats and some other dogs. He will not be a good dog for a dog park and should be the only dog for a family looking for a loving family member. Clayton has been socialized with men, women and older children and will not be placed in a home with younger children due to his breed (not his temperament). He loves to be affectionate with his foster mom and can not wait until it is his turn to get loved on by his foster mom and dad (and stinky human kid).
Clayton is crate trained, house trained, knows sit and is extremely smart. He is also very loyal to his family and will make a great addition to a family with older children (16 and up) or a single person looking for a great companion. Clayton actually loves to play with his foster kid and is very gentle with the humans. He loves to chase the Kong ball or enjoy it with peanut butter inside, lay on a cozy bed, but most of all, he loves back scratches and belly rubs. Clayton is heartworm negative, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and is currently on heartworm prevention and flea treatment, plus he is microchipped. If you would like to make this wonderful and deserving boy part of you world, please fill out an online application and request him in the notes section.
Seniors, Seniors and More Seniors. There are many, many older dogs found in animal shelters. Most of the time, it is due to no fault of theirs.A lot of the stories we hear is that ‘the owner wanted a younger dog,’ or ‘we had to move and could not take them with us,’ etc., etc., etc. These beautiful seniors have spent all of the earlier years of their life devoted to their family and giving unconditional love and companionship, only to be dumped in a cold, dirty, unfriendly shelter. They are confused, bewildered and depressed and wonder why they are there. Most are euthanized because they are older and no one wants an older dog and because a lot are owner surrenders and no owner will be in to claim them. Some just pass away from grieving. What a travesty! They have so many more wonderful years of love to give and don’t deserve to have their world come to an end like this.
Please take a look at the pictures and bios posted below of our seniors. They are more than deserving of a second chance to live out the rest of their lives with love and dignity and lots of belly rubs. They have much more to give back in return.
